JoJo’s Bakery is a family-run Texas inspired, European style bakery (soon to be) located within the Cuernavaca community of Westlake. The founder, Lily Swartz (Painter), not only grew up within the community but dreamed of opening a bakery within it since childhood. Since then Lily attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and worked in Chicago and Austin at some local favorites including: The Commodore Perry Estate, South Congress Hotel, La Patisserie and Bittersweet Pastry Shop (in Chicago).
The name JoJo’s is after Lily’s grandmother, Joann, who inspired Lily at a young age to follow in her foot steps of sharing love through food. JoJo, as she was affectionately called, had 7 children and 21 grandchildren and enjoyed nothing more than filling them all up with delicious food. The favorite of JoJo’s treats was her “JoJo Bread”, a potato sourdough bread with a starter that’s been passed down through generations. JoJo Bread is the star of JoJo’s Bakery and is showcased in many forms such as cinnamon rolls, kolaches and sandwich bread!
JoJo’s hopes to become an essential part of the Cuernavaca community and a go-to for locals special celebrations. Follow along on our Instagram, linked below, for the rest of the story…
